I've uploaded a video from a guild mate, Threnok.

While I'm working on "I have no friends cleave II", Threnok's BG movie should give you an impression how the quad shaman team works in cataclysm pvp.
All scenes were filmed in s9 pre 4.0.6, at this time elemental shaman is pretty bad, but its still fun to multibox them.

1) Lack of stun/blanket silence which is 100 % necessary in a game plagued with slow deaths and self healing.

2) Lack of passive damage reduction or large defensive cooldown

3) Lack of large mana restore cooldown and general low mana restore.

4) Low damage but not by much. While freecasting you have lower consistent and burst than almost all other classes, while being trained it is pathetic.

In general you're right, everyone plays shamans because it was the best class/spec during tbc/wotlk in arenas, no one plays multibox mages in arenas because no one had success with it in tbc/wotlk. I could imagine now in season 9 quad boxing mages with a resto shaman breaking 2.2k in 5s and as soon as someone does that, or at least breaking 2k, many boxers reroll from shamans to mages, like you can use will of the forsaken vs the first mass fear, ice block vs the 2nd, 2 sec fear -dr, next full fear tremor totem, next one trinket, so you have about one minute to kill something, then 8 ring of frost, 12 mirror images, 4 water elementals, should cause confusion on the battlefield as well as in arenas, but someone has to do the first step and proof that this lineup is viable, I'm actually trying dks - perhaps mages next, will see.
